Redflow recruits new skills for next phase of growth

Redflow has named experienced technology executive Tim Harris as its new CEO to focus on the company’s growth and commercialisation.

Long-term Redflow executive Richard Aird returns to the role of Chief Operating Officer, a critical position that focuses his deep skills and experience with development of Redflow’s unique ZBM2 battery to ensure its successful production by the new factory in Thailand. Richard will continue his successful work in driving cost-downs, optimisations and quality improvements in the supply-chain and manufacturing process as the company prepares to ramp-up battery production during 2018.

Since last year’s strategic review, Redflow has transferred its manufacturing operations from North America to Thailand, where it is now successfully producing battery stacks – the critical component of its zinc-bromine flow batteries – and is on track to produce full batteries by June this year.

Tim Harris has extensive international business experience from the telecommunications sector – a key market for Redflow – where he was previously Chief Commercial Officer for Chorus in New Zealand and held senior leadership roles for BT Group in Singapore and the UK. Redflow restructures leadership team for growth

Australian battery company Redflow Limited (Redflow) today announces leadership changes, including a new Managing Director and CEO and an Independent Non-Executive Chairman, effective immediately, as it prepares to commence manufacturing in Thailand and grow battery sales during the next 12 months.

Appointment of Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director

Redflow’s largest shareholder Simon Hackett – who became acting CEO 12 months ago – has stepped aside from his executive role after completing a year-long mission to refocus, redirect and recapitalise the business. Simon will continue as a non-executive director with special oversight for technology-related matters.

The Redflow Board has promoted Chief Operating Officer, Richard Aird, as CEO to accelerate the company’s new strategic direction announced in May. With more than 20 years’ experience in commercial development and operations, Richard has a thorough understanding of Redflow and its technology from holding various roles with the company since 2009. He has the skills and expertise needed to drive the company as it starts manufacturing batteries in Thailand and implements cost downs in battery production. Discussions regarding terms of engagement to reflect Richard’s new role are well advanced and will be disclosed in accordance with the listing rules when finalised. Redflow announces acting CEO and COO

Redflow Limited (ASX:RFX) today announces senior management changes as the company prepares for the first deliveries of ZCell residential flow batteries in Australia.

The Redflow board has appointed Executive Chairman Simon Hackett as acting Chief Executive Officer while fellow board member Richard Aird was named acting Chief Operating Officer.

Redflow announced these appointments after Stuart Smith resigned as CEO following his successful outsourcing of the entire battery manufacturing process to Flex. Mr Smith joined Redflow in 2012.

Redflow director Howard Stack, who was chairman for much of that time, said the company was grateful for Stuart Smith’s leadership during the past four years. “Stuart has led Redflow during a period in which it transformed a promising technology into a world-class battery and outsourced manufacturing to Flex,” he said.

“The company is now embarking on the next phase of its development, and with Stuart’s departure we have appointed Simon and Richard as acting CEO and acting COO to oversee the delivery of ZCell batteries in Australia and to identify the leadership team to deliver Redflow batteries to the world.”
