Australian battery company Redflow Limited will start manufacturing battery components at its new factory in Thailand next month, the company Chairman Brett Johnson told today’s 2017 Annual General Meeting in Brisbane.
“We are expecting to commence the initial manufacture of components for our electrode stacks during December and are on-track to have manufactured our first complete electrode stack by the end of January 2018,” Mr Johnson told shareholders at the AGM.
Redflow Limited (ASX:RFX) will hold its 2017 Annual General Meeting from 10.30am (Queensland Standard Time) on Friday, November 24, at the Jindalee Hotel, Sinnamon Road, in the Brisbane suburb of Jindalee.
Redflow’s new non-executive Chairman Brett Johnson will address the meeting, providing details about progress of Redflow’s planned manufacturing facility in Thailand. Redflow’s recently appointed Chief Executive Officer Richard Aird will also attend the AGM. Redflow’s largest investor and non-executive director Simon Hackett will provide a brief technical presentation during the meeting.
Australian battery company Redflow Limited (Redflow) today announces leadership changes, including a new Managing Director and CEO and an Independent Non-Executive Chairman, effective immediately, as it prepares to commence manufacturing in Thailand and grow battery sales during the next 12 months.
Appointment of Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director
Redflow’s largest shareholder Simon Hackett – who became acting CEO 12 months ago – has stepped aside from his executive role after completing a year-long mission to refocus, redirect and recapitalise the business. Simon will continue as a non-executive director with special oversight for technology-related matters.
The Redflow Board has promoted Chief Operating Officer, Richard Aird, as CEO to accelerate the company’s new strategic direction announced in May. With more than 20 years’ experience in commercial development and operations, Richard has a thorough understanding of Redflow and its technology from holding various roles with the company since 2009. He has the skills and expertise needed to drive the company as it starts manufacturing batteries in Thailand and implements cost downs in battery production. Discussions regarding terms of engagement to reflect Richard’s new role are well advanced and will be disclosed in accordance with the listing rules when finalised. Redflow board members
Brett has more than 10 years experience as a director of listed companies, including Scott Corporation Limited and Helloworld Limited. At Scott, Brett was the only independent non-executive director representing minority shareholders and chaired the Audit Committee. At Helloworld, he was a member of the Audit Committee and Remuneration & Nominations Committee. He was also Chairman from August 2014 to December 2015, during which Helloworld was subject to a successful takeover offer. Brett also has more than 25 years experience as General Counsel of listed Australian companies, including Qantas Airways Limited (1995-2012). In those roles, he was a member of the company’s’ executive committee and attended most board meetings.
Simon is the founder of Internode and past co-director of NBN Co Limited, Simon joined the Redflow Board in November 2014 and relinquished his role at the NBN Co Limited in April of 2016 to focus on Redflow. Simon added Redflow to his investment portfolio of innovative Australian technology businesses, which includes AvSoft and UltraServe. He founded Internode in 1991, growing it to become Australia’s largest privately owned broadband company by 2011, when he sold it to ASX-listed iiNet. He acted as a Non-Executive Director of iiNet from August 2012 until November 2013, when he stepped down to become a Non-Executive Director on the board of NBN Co Limited.
David Knox served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Santos Limited from 2008-2015. David was previously Managing Director for BP Developments in Australasia from 2003 to 2007. He has worked for BP in the United Kingdom and Pakistan, and has held management and engineering positions at ARCO and Shell in the USA, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Norway. David is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland and has a BSc Hons in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA. He is a fellow of ATSE, and FIE Aust and a graduate of the AICD community.
Jenny Macdonald has extensive experience working with ASX-listed and global companies at the CFO and general management level. She serves on the board and audit committee of API, the parent company of Priceline Pharmacy, Soul Pattinson Chemist and Pharmacist Advice. Previous roles include non-executive director for hipages and Fitted for Work; CFO and interim CEO at Helloworld Limited; and CFO and General Manager International with REA Group. Jenny chairs the Audit Committee for Redflow..
John Lindsay is an Australian businessman and technology entrepreneur, who has previously held senior technology leadership roles as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at ASX-listed company iiNet Limited, CTO at Internode and General Manager of Chariot Internet. Mr Lindsay, who is co-founder and company director of Adelaide-based enterprise cloud computing consultancy jtwo solutions Pty Ltd, has held also board-level roles for several privately-owned companies. Since February 2017, Mr Lindsay has been a member of the board of the Australian Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND MANGING DIRECTOR
Tim is a seasoned business executive with extensive experience working for international companies. Prior to joining Redflow, Tim was Chief Commercial Officer for Chorus, New Zealand’s largest telecommunications infrastructure company. Prior to that, Tim spent a decade in senior executive roles with BT, the British multinational telecommunications company that is the UK’s largest provider of fixed-line, mobile, broadband and media services, which has operations in 180 countries.
CHIEF OPERAtiNG OFFICER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Richard is a professional operations manager with more than 20 years of experience in commercial development and operations in construction and rural industries. His success in large-scale rural development enriches Redflow with a wealth of business experience. Richard, who has worked in a range of roles at Redflow since 2009, has first-hand knowledge of customer requirements for grid-connected and off-grid electricity generating and storage systems in both regional and remote areas.
Dr. Alex Winter
In the lead-up to the foundation of Redflow, Alex spent six years working on the research and development of flowing electrolyte batteries, using his expertise in fluid dynamics and mechanical design. Alex has significant international experience, having lived and worked in Austria and Argentina in various consulting, managerial and engineering roles. He is responsible for product development and design for manufacturing within Redflow and manages a team of nine engineers and technicians. Alex holds a Bachelor of Engineering with first-class honours and a PhD in the field of mechanical engineering, both from The University of Queensland.
Dr. Mike Giulianini
Chief Technology Officer
Mike heads Redflow’s systems engineering department, assisting system integrators with using Redflow’s ZBM in energy storage systems. He has more than 13 years of experience as a systems engineer, having held management and executive positions. He has supervised and managed a multitude of projects in energy storage, renewables integration and defence telecommunications. Mike has attained his Laurea Magistrale in electronic engineering, a PhD related to organic photovoltaics from the Queensland University of Technology and a graduate certificate in research commercialisation.
